Concrete Genie Trophy Guide

There are some games that come along and try something so outlandish and different that the gaming industry at large can’t help but stop and take notice.

Now, this isn’t always a positive experience for the fans and the developers because even the best-laid plans can go awry. Look at No Man’s Sky as a prime example; that was a game that promised the world, the world believed the promise, and then upon release, it fell flat on its face.

This is becoming more of a common occurrence in the modern age of gaming thanks to tight deadlines and release schedules, increased pressure from gamers through the lofty standards they set for AAA games, and of course, the fact that in such a saturated field, you have to do something mad to stand out at all.

So when we saw a game called Concrete Genie promise a sandbox world with infinite artistic possibilities and a magical paintbrush that is controlled by motion control, we were skeptical, to say the least, but against the odds, this game was charming and tonnes of fun.

Concrete Genie is a game that tells a touching story about an artistic kid that doesn’t fit into the humdrum town he lives in, and through his art, he finds an escape, and when his creations come to life, he uses this as a way to rescue his town and return this seaside location to its former glory. So naturally, to make this a reality, you will have to paint the town in technicolor neon, and through doing this, the town will burst into life again. The gameplay is slick; the game is paced wonderfully; it doesn’t overstay its welcome, and best of all for us, trophy hunters, Concrete Genie has a very manageable platinum trophy.

So with that in mind, we want to give you a handy roadmap and break down each trophy in this charming title so you can add another shiny platinum trophy to your cabinet. So get your magical brush at the ready, get those creative juices flowing and join us. Here is our Concrete Genie Trophy Guide.

Bottom Line Up Front

Roadmap To Success

Step One: Story Time

Concrete Genie Trophy Guide

As this game only requires one playthrough and there are no missable trophies, there is no pressure on the player to do everything in one run or in a very distinct way. So when you first hop into this game, we would suggest that you simply enjoy the game’s story. This will allow you to naturally collect more than half of the trophies anyway through natural play. We would also say that it will save you time later in the 100% run if you keep an eye out for pages that are floating around the place. There is no pressure to collect these, as they will be there waiting for you when you finish the game, but if they are in your line of sight on the way, there is no reason why you shouldn’t stray off the path just a little to grab them. Here is a rundown of all the trophies that you will end up popping through your natural playthrough:

  • Luna’s Apprentice
  • Let the Light Shine
  • Just Like Old Times
  • Power’s back!
  • Water’s Clear
  • Forced to Fight
  • The Name’s Ash
  • Doing the Right Thing
  • I Made a Promise…
  • The Curse Is Lifted
  • A fresh Start
  • Something New
  • Choices, Choices
  • Colorful Companion
  • Dog? Cat? Draaaagon?

Step Two: Let the Collect-a-thon Commence

Let the Collect-a-thon Commence

After you have seen all the story-related content that this game has to offer, you should then turn your attention towards collecting all of the lost sketchbook pages, finishing all the Genie Moments, repairing all the Billboards, and generally making the town look even more colorful. The pages around the town will require the player to explore hidden areas, platform to some of the highest areas of the map, and interact with aspects of the in-game world, so they can be a challenge to hunt down. However, with a guide, finding what pages are left over after your story playthrough shouldn’t be too tasking. Then you will also have to read the Newspapers scattered around Denska; however, as there aren’t that many, we would wager that you already have.

Then as for Genies and Billboards, players will be required to paint with care and attention to bring these set-pieces to life and create fun scenarios for you and your Genies to share. These are much more straightforward than finding all the pages, but you may need specific pages to complete various moments, so please try and find the pages first, then get creative with the Billboards and Genie Moments. Here is a rundown of all the trophies you should focus on throughout this step:

  • Stunning Landscape
  • Every Possible Look
  • Art Gallery
  • Perfectly Restored
  • High Five
  • Karaoke Night
  • Peek-a-boo
  • Read all the Newspapers
  • Faded Memories
  • Memories Restored
  • A Secret Moment
  • Capture The Moments

Step Three: Odd Jobs and Helping Luna

 Odd Jobs and Helping Luna

Then after you have all the creative options that the game has to offer safely stored in your sketch pad again, it’s time to get painting, play with your genies, do some odd jobs and miscellaneous tasks to pop certain trophies and then see what final, end-game content that Denska has hidden at the Lighthouse for you. Essentially, you will be using certain designs a certain amount of times, triggering genie animations and helping Luna. It’s all very straightforward, and when you are done with this last spot of clean-up, you’ll have a lovely new Platinum in your cabinet waiting for you. Here is a list of the trophies that we would deem as the last of the clean-up. However, bear in mind that you may have a lot of these already through natural play:

  • All Ears
  • Fa-Fa-Fashion
  • Besties
  • Om Nom Nom Nom
  • My happy Place
  • Weeeeeeeeeeee!
  • Feel the Thunder
  • Is it Raining?
  • Anyone There?
  • Don’t Eat me
  • Carried Away
  • Sugar Rush
  • Chillaxing
  • Frozen Treat
  • In the Zone
  • Starchild
  • Pyromaniac
  • What Does it Mean?
  • Lunatic
  • Festival Time
  • Snow Season
  • Free Style
  • Living Photo
  • I’m Back
  • Luna’s Secret

Breaking Down The Trophies

Okay. So you now have a rough idea of how to approach this game, and if that is the only framework you need, then great. However, even if the best of intentions from the most meticulous of trophy hunters, some trophies can slip through the cracks and prove rather elusive. Perfectly Restored

Rarity: Gold

This is by far the most time-consuming of all the trophies that this game has to offer. However, with a trusty visual guide, this is a piece of cake as none of the pages within this game are difficult to get to once you know where to find them. While we would love to tell you exactly where each page is located in written form, there are 205 collectibles in total here, so we would be very forever, and let’s face it, you would rather see it on screen than have us guide you through the written word. So here is a Youtube guide that you can trust to guide you to each page, starting with The Lighthouse:

High Five

Stories of Denska

This is a trophy that is earned when the player interacts with and reads all of the newspapers that are dotted around Denska. There are only six of these papers, and they are pretty much out in the open, so if you are actively keeping an eye out for these throughout your run, you likely won’t miss them. However, just in case, here is a Youtube guide to help lead you in the right direction:

Faded Memories

FAQ Section

Question: Does Concrete Genie Use Motion Controls?

Answer: They aren’t motion controls as such. You don’t need a Playstation Move or PSVR to play this game, even though there is VR support for this game and VR DLC content. The standard game uses a sensor within the console and the controller to allow players to point the controller at the screen and produce a reticle on-screen, in this case, a paintbrush. Then the player can use this to create wonderful, artistic showpieces. It’s a gimmick for sure, and not everyone will love it, but you have to give the game props; it tried something different, and it largely paid off.

Question: How Long is Concrete Genie?

Answer: This depends if you simply want to complete the story or if you want to see the additional story content and collect all the goodies scattered around Denska. If you are a casual player, we would say that you will have this game wrapped up in about 5-6 hours. Whereas if you are hunting for collectibles and getting all you can out of this game, it might be closer to 8-10 hours.

Question: Is Concrete Genie a Playstation Exclusive?

Answer: Yes, and perhaps one of the most underrated of all the Playstation exclusives of the modern era. I guess we got so caught up in the God of Wars and the Horizon Zero Dawns of the era that some of us overlooked this little gem. This game was made specifically to show off the hardware and capabilities of the PS4; even quite late into its run, it was still showing off new tricks.
