Survive the Night: Dying Light 2 Trophy Guide

Latest posts by Arron Kluz (see all)

Dying Light 2 is a first-person survival horror game where players control a parkour-adept survivor in a post-apocalypse world overrun with zombies. Players control Aiden Cadwell, a man in search of his lost sister that travels the dangerous roads between the sparse remnants of human civilization.

Along the way, players free run around the city of Villedor, helping survivors, crafting better gear, finding collectibles, and even teaming up with other players. And, of course, dedicated players can get their hands on the game’s platinum trophy with enough dedication.

Dying Light 2 Walkthrough

Before we dive into each of the specific trophies, you’ll be chasing in Dying Light 2. It is helpful to go over the entire process. This will help you know what to expect before starting your completion attempt and ensure you won’t miss the few missable trophies that are spread throughout the game.

Step One: Prologue

dying light Prologue

The prologue to the game is a short tutorial that sets up the game’s story and characters while teaching you the basic controls and mechanics. However, it is essential to pay attention right at the start because there is a collectible in the prologue that you can never get if you progress past the point.

If you miss it, you can’t return to that area in a co-op game to grab it, meaning you have to play through the entire game to get the collectibles. The collectible is a newspaper on a table in the kitchen of the first building you visit in the game.

Step Two: Main Story

Once you get through the Prologue, you should focus on progressing through the game’s story, which should take anywhere from 20 to 35 hours.

As you go through the story, feel free to make whatever decisions make the most sense to you that you want, as none of the choices have trophies associated with them. However, there are also some things that you’ll need to keep in mind as you go through the game.

The first is not to use any inhibitors once you have your Health and Stamina up to level 12. This is because there is a trophy for maxing out your Health and one for Stamina.

Still, you can’t get both of them fully leveled up in one playthrough, so you’ll have to use some save manipulation to get both in a single playthrough, which I go over in their associated trophies, Fit as a Fiddle and Ironheart below.

Once you get introduced to the mechanic that allows you to give the different factions control of zones of the city. For this playthrough, you should assign all of them to one faction.

Which of the two factions you side with is up to your personal preferences, but just make sure to focus on one throughout your time going through the main storyline to ensure you get the missable Boot Licker trophy.

You should also keep an eye out for numerous missable collectibles. However, if you miss these, you can jump into a co-op game and collect them there, which can help you avoid a second playthrough. They are listed below.

  • Get before playing the Main Quest Revolution / Into The Dark: Before you play through this main quest, make sure to play the side quest The Ball is in Your Court, which you can start by talking to Dodger in the Bazaar. During this side quest, three Mementos are easily missed. You can get these after you do the side quest, but if you don’t do the side quest doing the main quest, you’ll miss out on accessing the area at all. Before doing this main quest, you also will want to talk to the first Carrier in the area named Quarry’s End. This opens another questline that cannot be started after progressing through the main questline.
  • Get After Playing the Main Quest A Place to Call Home: After you complete this main quest, you should do the side quest To Kill or Not to Kill to get the Memento collectible hidden within. However, some players have reported that the quest is bugged for them and doesn’t appear when it should.
  • During Main Quest Broadcast: During this quest, you can get Memento 57 in the tower’s basement. In the basement, while completing the “Restore the power” objective, you will have to kill a zombified Peacekeeper and loot their body.
  • During Main Quest Now or Never: This quest has three missable collectibles, Tape 61, Tape 62, and Tape 63.
  • Before playing Main Quest X13: After you finish this quest, you won’t be able to get the collectible Tape 46. It is located at the top of the North Loop Radio Tower, so grab it before starting this quest.

Step Three: Collectibles, Combat, and Clean-Up

Once you’re done with the main story, you can turn your attention toward wrapping up most of the other trophies in Dying Light 2 since you can work on most of them simultaneously. This includes finishing up the collectibles, combat trophies, clearing the map icons, and a few other random trophies.

For the map icons, you’ll have seven facilities, nine metro stations, 17 windmills, four bandit camps, 12 GRE anomalies, six GRE Quarantine Buildings, 26 airdrops, and ten Nightrunner Trials. However, you only have to get a bronze score for the trials, so don’t worry too much about doing extremely well in them.

For the collectibles, there are a ton to grab. You’ll have to get at least 81 Inhibitors, 117 Mementos, 63 Tapes, and 70 Murals.

You’ll likely get some of the combat trophies in step two and as you complete step three, but as you go through, it isn’t a bad idea to keep them in the back of your mind so that you can get them out of the way as you warp the game up.

Step Four: Co-Op

Two trophies in Dying Light 2 also require you to play with other players online. If you play through the game with a friend or two, you will likely get these out of the way as you go, but if you don’t, you can get them out of the way through the game’s matchmaking.

These shouldn’t take you long at all, so feel free to get them over with whenever you want. I preferred doing them here and there while I went through the side quests, which helped me work on them.

  • Rarity: Gold
  • Description: This is a story trophy you will get as you go through the main questline.

Municipal Services

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for assigning all facilities in the game.

Tips: Seven facilities are spread throughout the game, split between Electrical Stations and Water Towers. Make sure to give all of them to the same faction, but whether you want to give them to the Survivors or Peacekeepers is up to you.

Tunnel Entrance

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for completing your first Metro Station.

Tube Map

  • Rarity: Silver
  • Description: This trophy is for completing all nine Metro Stations.

Tips: You will get a few Metro Stations activated for free, but there are not many of them in the game to do at all. I recommend doing them at night so that the infected that tend to stay in them will be out in the street, making them easier to take care of. However, some of them are run by Renegades, so doing those during the day won’t be any different.

Sancho Panza

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for completing your first Windmill.

Don Quixote

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for completing all 17 Windmills.

Tips: Windmills are parkour challenges that reveal map icons in the surrounding area when you reach the top of them, so you’ll likely do these naturally as you play through the game and unlock the map.

Tickets, Please!

dying light Tickets, Please!
  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for using the metro system to fast travel.

Tips: To get this trophy, you must go to a Metro Station and quickly travel by interacting with the map there. It will not unlock if you fast travel using the map in the menu.

Can’t You Read the Signs?

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for finding every Inhibitor found in GRE Quarantine zones.

Tips: There are six GRE Quarantine zones that you should do during the night so that the zombies inside are out on the streets. Each zone has four inhibitors spread out between their three floors. The zones are marked on your map, so they are also relatively easy to find.

Find Anything Interesting?

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for opening all 26 Airdrops.

Tips: There are 26 Airdrops in the game spread throughout Villedor underwater or on the roofs of tall buildings. This means that you won’t be able to get them until later in your playthrough when you have all of your movement mechanics.

If you have a hard time getting to some tall buildings, I found it easiest to climb to the top of the VNC Tower and base jump to them.

It Wasn’t That Hard, Was It?

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is earned by killing your first GRE Anomaly.

Tips: GRE Anomalies only appear during the night but are especially strong infected that you can kill to gain a GRE chest.

Revenants

  • Rarity: Silver
  • Description: This trophy is for killing all 12 GRE Anomalies.

Flag Burning

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for completing a Bandit Camp, which you will do during the main questline.

Ban Hammer

  • Rarity: Silver
  • Description: This trophy is for clearing all four Bandit Camps.

Tips: To clear the Bandit Camps, you just have to kill all enemies there, including their lieutenant and then raise the camp’s flag.

You Never Forget Your First…

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for crafting an item for the first time, which you will do during the main questline.

Oh, So This Is How It Works!

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for modifying a weapon for the first time.

Tips: This is done in your inventory by having a blueprint for a mod and the required materials.

A Friend in Need…

A Friend in Need...
  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for helping 50 survivors that you find in random encounters.

Tips: Just make sure to stop and complete the encounters as you play through the game and you will get this one easily enough.

Parkour Master

  • Rarity: Silver
  • Description: This trophy is for unlocking all 24 Parkour skills.

Tips: You will get a lot of experience from completing main and side quests, but you’ll also have to grind a lot to get this trophy by doing random encounters at the end of the game.

Combat Master

  • Rarity: Silver
  • Description: This trophy is for unlocking all 24 Combat skills.

Tips: You will get a lot of experience from completing main and side quests, but you’ll also have to grind a lot to get this trophy by doing random encounters at the end of the game.

Boot Licker

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for getting the city’s alignment with either faction up to seven.

Tips: You cannot get both factions to seven, so it’s best to assign every zone to just one faction to make sure you don’t miss this one.

Who Wants To Be a…

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for gathering $1,000,000 in Old World Money.

Tips: This trophy will require a lot of grinding on your part. The fastest way I’ve found to grind for money is to gather all of the Airdrops on the ground or underwater, sell everything in them, sleep, and then repeat the process.

Man On a Mission

  • Rarity: Silver
  • Description: This trophy is for meeting three potential dates through Sparker.

Tips: This trophy is tied to the side quest The Matchmaker, which will allow you to use Sparker to find potential dates. To do this, you’ll have to return to the area now and then or keep sleeping until people appear.

Ultramarathon

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for travelling a total of 960km.

Tips: This trophy is a brutal grind since you won’t be anywhere near 960km. If you want, you can spend the time running around the game without using the paraglider or other traversal tools that don’t count toward your total.

However, an easy way to unlock this trophy is to use a rubberband to hold your controller’s analogue stick over so that you will run in a circle repeatedly.

After the Fall

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for falling a total of 10,944 meters.

Tips: You will likely get this trophy as you play through the game, as you’ll be jumping off big buildings constantly. If it doesn’t, just climb up the tallest building you can find and jump off, opening your paraglider before hitting the ground, and repeat this until the trophy pops.

Good Night & Good Luck

Good Night & Good Luck trophy
  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for surviving an entire night for the first time.

Tips: You will get this trophy naturally as you play through the game, as you can even just sleep through the night.

Can’t Touch This!

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for killing 20 enemies with melee weapons and not taking a single hit.

Tips: If you have a hard time doing this normally, take your best weapon to the inside of a building during the day to find docile zombies that you can kill with a single hit so that they don’t even get a chance to hit you.

Night Hunter

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for killing a volatile for the first time.

Tips: This trophy is unlocked during the main questline.

Death From Afar

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for killing a Spitter using a ranged weapon.

Tips: You’ll see zombies that spit yellow fluids at you throughout the game. These are known as Spitters and have a higher chance of spawning at night. Once you get a bow, just hold onto it until you find a Spitter and use it to kill them.

Tanning Salon

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for killing a Viral with the help of a UV Flashlight.

Tips: You’ll get a UV Flashlight by playing through the main questline. Once you have it you can use it to weaken a zombie until they collapse to their knees, upon which you can kill them with a finishing move, unlocking this trophy.

Terminal Headache

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for getting 50 headshots with ranged weapons.

Tips: The easiest way to get this trophy is by shooting the slumbering zombies inside of buildings.

Slow Poke!

Slow Poke! trophy
  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for surviving a Chase that reaches the maximum level.

Tips: Get this trophy during the night by finding a Howler to scream and increase the level of your chase. Stay by the Howler until the Chase reaches level four and then run into a UV area to end it quickly.

Being All Social

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for joining a co-op session.

That’s Teamwork!

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for killing at least 100 enemies while playing with two or more other players.

Lightning Reflexes

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for doing ten perfect blocks without taking any damage.

Tips: Before you can do this, you’ll have to get the Perfect Parry skill from the Combat skill tree first. The easiest way to get this trophy is to find a group of humans without zombies, like a Bandit Camp. Then, kill all but one enemy so that you can focus on getting your Perfect Parries without being hit by another enemy.

Modder

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for modifying a weapon 50 times.

Fit as a Fiddle

  • Rarity: Silver
  • Description: This trophy is for maxing out your Health stat.

Tips: To get this trophy and Ironheart below, level up your Stamina and Health to level 12 each, and then save up any Inhibitors that you find. Then, make a backup save and use those inhibitors to fully level up your Health, reload the save and then fully level up your Stamina.

Ironheart

  • Rarity: Silver
  • Description: This trophy is for maxing out your Stamina stat.

Tips: See Fit as a Fiddle above.

You’re Going Down!

You're Going Down! trophy
  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for doing 50 takedowns.

Tips: You can do takedowns by attacking enemies while sneaking up on them.

Don’t Look Up

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for using Smash on 50 enemies.

Tips: To do Smash, you first have to purchase it in the Combat skill tree. Then, all you have to do to use the skill is attack enemies from above, which will kill them in a single hit.

Get the Point?

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for using Spears to kill 50 enemies.

Tips: Spears can be found throughout the city and can then be used to kill an enemy with a single hit. If you make sure to use any Spears you find while you play through the game, you should get this one out of the way easily.

True Nightrunner

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for finishing all ten Nightrunner Trials.

Tips: Many of these trials require equipment you won’t get until later in the game, but each is a parkour challenge. Each challenge has different ranks that you can earn depending on your time to complete it, but for this trophy you only have to get a Bronze rank in each one.

Bing Bang Boom!

  • Rarity: Bronze
  • Description: This trophy is for doing a double wall run and then an air kick.

Tips: For this trophy, you need the Tic Tac, Wall Combo, and Air Kick skills from the Combat skill tree. Then, find an alleyway and run on one wall, jump to the other to run on it, and then Air Kick an enemy.
