From Software’s Soulsborne titles are some of the most consistent releases in the games industry. The titles have found an extraordinary place in the hearts of fans, and for a good reason. They offer deep sandboxes for players to explore and express themselves while providing a unique challenge that is harsh but fair. So, many players who fall in love with the games want every achievement to get as much gameplay from them as possible, and this guide will take you through exactly how to do just that.

Dark Souls 3 Walkthrough

While this walkthrough will not give detailed information on how to beat every boss or progress through each area of Dark Souls 3, it will instead go over how to approach getting the achievements. This will ensure your playthrough is as efficient as possible while still experiencing the game in a natural way as possible. This will allow you to fully enjoy the journey of Dark Souls 3 while still getting all of the achievements done in a minimum of three playthroughs.

Step One: To Link the First Flame

For your first playthrough, you’ll want to experience the game as naturally as possible. This will get you the ending called To Link the First Flame and lay the groundwork for the following two playthroughs. As you go through the game, try to collect as much as possible. You have no carry weight, so finding every piece of gear and spell you can help you have more options in later playthroughs. You’ll need to get all of the spells for some achievements and fully upgrade your Estus Flask, so check their specific information below during your playthrough.

As you go through the game, just experiment with different weapons and strategies and find what works best for you. Your character build is highly fluid in Dark Souls 3, and it is smart to take advantage of that to see what works best for you. Also, don’t forget that you can use NPC spirits and random online players to help you get past any parts you are especially stuck at. This can be huge in helping you get through the game, especially if any particular bosses give you a hard time. Don’t be afraid to take advantage of it and use it whenever it is possible to help you out.

Step Two: The End of Fire

Dark Souls 3 Achievements Guide
Image from Fandom

Once you’ve finished your first playthrough, you can jump back into your second on New Game+. You need to get exclusive content during your second playthrough, so you have to play on New Game+ and cannot just start a brand new character for this step. During this playthrough, you’ll have to collect those items and get the second ending, known as The End of Fire. During this playthrough, feel free to do as little or as much of the game as you want, but since your third playthrough will be New Game++ that will see every enemy getting even harder, you should level up a good amount and get all of your gear fully upgraded before moving forward.

Achievements in this Step

  • The End of Fire
  • Master of Pyromancies

Step Three: The Usurpation of Fire

Now that you’re done with your second playthrough, you can start your third as a New Game++. This will carry over your same character while making every enemy and boss in the game even more challenging. For this playthrough, you’ll be focusing on getting the remaining collectibles that you need and getting the final type of ending. Since some rings only appear in New Game++, using the same character for all three playthroughs is necessary to finish getting all of these achievements.

Achievements in this Step

  • The Dark Soul
  • The Usurpation of Fire
  • Master of Sorceries
  • Master of Miracles
  • Master of Rings
  • Master of Expression

Description: This achievement is for getting The End of Fire ending.

Tips: To unlock this ending, you have to travel to the optional area Untended Graves which lies past the Consumed King’s Garden. There, you will find a dark rendition of Firelink Shrine. Go to where you would find Irina of Carim in the regular Firelink Shrine, and there is an illusory wall you can break with an attack. Behind it, you can loot the Eyes of a Fire Keeper. Take those to the Firekeeper at Firelink Shrine. Then, after you defeat the final boss, don’t touch the bonfire; but instead, use the summon sign to summon the Firekeeper to you.

The Usurpation of Fire

Gamerscore: 50

Description: This achievement is for getting The Usurpation of Fire ending.

Tips: For this ending, you have to complete the final steps during your New Game++ playthrough:

  • Talk with the NPC Yoel of Londor in Undead Settlement and select “Yes” to send him to Firelink Shrine.
  • Level up five times at Yoel in Firelink Shrine. The first is free, but the others can only be done after you die twice in between each one. Do not give away the Dark Sigils he gives you. Doing this five times will cause Yoel to disappear and be replaced with Yuria of Londor.
  • Exhaust all dialogue options with Yuria.
  • Exhaust all dialogue options with Anri and Horus. They can be found at the Halfway Keep bonfire on the Road of Sacrifices.
  • Kill the Deacons of the Deep boss.
  • Talk to Anri and Horus at the Firelink Shrine, where they will have gone.
  • Exhaust all dialogue options with Anri in the Catacombs of Carthus. They will move around a few different times in the area but are easy enough to find at each location.
  • Drop the bridge in the Catacombs of Carthus and use it as a ladder to the Smouldering Lake area.
  • Kill Horace.
  • Exhaust all dialogue options with Anri next to the bridge you collapsed.
  • Head to the Church of Yorshka and exhaust all dialogue options with Anri there. Do not kill the pilgrim disguised as a statue in this area.
  • Kill the boss Pontiff Sulyvhan.
  • Exhaust all dialogue options with Yuria in the Firelink Shrine.
  • Talk to the pilgrim in the Darkmoon Tomb to get an item.
  • Talk with Anri at the altar.
  • Talk with Yuria in Firelink Shrine.
  • Progress through the rest of the game and interact with the bonfire after beating the final boss.

Gamerscore: 30

Description: This achievement is for fully upgrading a weapon.

To do this, you’ll have to collect 12 Titanite Shards, 12 Large Titanite Shards, 12 Titanite Chunks, and a Titanite Slab. You can do this with most weapons and should be upgrading your preferred one throughout your playthrough to keep getting more powerful. It will seem like you aren’t getting any of the resources for the first half of your playthrough, but in the second half, the resources will start dropping far more frequently, and you’ll get plenty of them just by playing naturally.
