Sekiro Trophy Guide

Latest posts by Arron Kluz (see all)

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is one of the most popular games released by From Software within their iconic Soulsborne genre of games. Set during a fictionalized Sengoku period in Japan, it puts players in control of a fierce warrior trying to stop their homeland in Japan from being conquered by force trying to unite the entire country into one entity. Along the way, players have to master the Shinobi combat arts, slay fierce monsters, and earn plenty of trophies for their struggles, but it is far from easy.

Sekiro Walkthrough

Before we get into each of the individual trophies, you’ll be picking up during this playthrough. We must take a more comprehensive look at the journey to the platinum trophy. This is especially important for Sekiro, as doing so can cut out two playthroughs and a lot of time that would otherwise be spent searching.

Step One: Learning

When you first start the game, it will likely take you some time to get used to the game’s parrying mechanics and flow of combat. Make sure to take your time as you go through the game and try to come to grips with what the game wants from you as much as possible, as this will make the bosses later on in the game much more manageable. There is also no set linear path through the game, but you’ll want to play up until you can face the Corrupted  Monk and Guardian Ape bosses. As you play through the game, make sure you experiment with the different skills and equipment you find along the way to define your playstyle and know what is all available to you. However, I would recommend investing in the Mikiri Counter upgrades and getting all of the prosthetics. Once you reach the Corrupted Monk and Guardian Ape, you’ll want to go to the Ashina Castle locations and make sure you have it thoroughly looted. Only then should you kill the bosses and interact with their associated items. Otherwise, you’ll permanently miss out on some items until your next playthrough.

Trophies in this step:

  • Revered Blade
  • Shinobi Prosthetic
  • Memorial mob
  • Resurrection
  • Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa
  • The Phantom Lady Butterfly
  • Genichiro Ashina
  • Guardian Ape
  • Folding Screen Monkeys

Step Two: The First Three Endings

Once you’ve killed the Guardian Ape and Corrupted Monk, return to Ashina Castle, as it will be entirely different now, complete with new items and monsters. Go to the top of the tower to find your mentor Owl and pick the dialogue options “Break the Iron Code, stay loyal to Kuro.” This will allow you to get three of the game’s four endings out of the way on this playthrough using saves. Once that is done, you’ll want to start gathering resources and preparing for the endings, so make sure you stay away from Fountainhead Palace for now.

Check the trophies Purification and Dragon’s Homecoming below to see the detailed preparations you need to make before going into the Fountainhead Palace. Finally, just before you go ahead, make sure that you have all of the Prosthetics and Prayer Beads in Ashina Castle up to this point, as it will change once again after you kill the Divine Dragon in Fountainhead Palace. You’ll also want to ensure you have gotten Malconten’s Ring from Sichimen, which will only spawn after you kill the Guardian Ape with the Mortal Blade.

Now that you’re prepared go to Fountainhead Palace, kill the Divine Dragon there, and start exploring the new Ashina Castle and Ashina Outskirts, including the optional boss in Ashina Outskirts. During this section of the game, you’ll also want to ensure you’ve collected all six Lapis Lazuli, as they will make your second playthrough much more manageable. Then, go to the final boss through the Secret Passage and save immediately after you defeat him, and create a backup of your save either in online storage or on a USB. Then, approach Kuro and select one of the choices you are given, watch the ending, and then re-download your backed-up save and use that you pick the other two options as well. Once that’s done, you’ll be ready to head to the Dilapidated Temple Idol and start your New Game+ run.

Trophies in this step:

  • Ashina Traveler
  • All Prosthetic Tools
  • All Ninjutsu Techniques
  • Peak Physical Strength
  • Ultimate Healing Gourd
  • Immortal Severance
  • Purification
  • Dragon’s homecoming
  • Sword Saint, Isshin Ashina
  • Master of the Arts
  • Lazuline Upgrade
  • Guardian Ape Immortality Severed
  • Great Shinobi – Owl
  • Father Surpassed
  • Corrupted Monk
  • Gracious Gift of Tears
  • Demon of Hatred
  • Great Serpent
  • Great Colored Carp

Step Three: New Game

Make sure that you keep Kuro’s Charm during the start of this playthrough to prevent you from taking damage even when you block enemy attacks. When you reach Owl at the top of the tower in Ashina Castle, make sure to back up your save as you did at the end of your first playthrough. Then, pick the dialogue option “Obey the Iron Code, forsake Kuro.” Then, play through the game until you defeat the new bosses it unlocked and get the fourth ending.

Once you’ve gotten the last ending, reload that backed up save and choose “Break the Iron Code, stay loyal to Kuro” again so that you can get the previous four Lapis Lazuli you need for upgrading your prosthetic tools. You can buy two of these from the Fountainhead Noble Pot and then feed the bait he gives you to the Great Carp, making the Pot reward you with another one when you return to him. Finally, you have to kill the Schichimen Warrior beneath the waterfall in the area to get the fourth and final one. Once you get your prosthetics upgraded, the only thing you may have left to do is grind for experience to unlock all skills fully.

Trophies in this step:
