Little Nightmares is a unique horror experience. The developers at Tarsier managed to combine a captivating horror experience that runs on dread with a fascinating world, tight platforming action, and fantastic character design. For achievement hunters, it can present a solid challenge thanks to just one of its achievements, but the experience of playing the game is so gripping that it is definitely worth the time and struggle. Little Nightmares also has three DLCs to play through and a sequel to pick up if you enjoy the first.

Little Nightmares Achievement Walkthrough

Before we get into each of the individual achievements you’ll be hunting down, we need to go over how you should approach playing through the game. A fair number of the achievements in Little Nightmares are missable that you’ll want to be looking out for as well as tackling them all in the most efficient way possible.

Step One: The Base Game

Little Nightmares Achievements

The first step is simply playing through the main story and getting 12 of its 13 achievements. To ensure you get all of the missable achievements during this playthrough, you’ll want to look at the details for each achievement below. However, if you miss any or need to go back and grab a collectible or two, Little Nightmares does have a chapter select that makes doing so much easier so that you don’t have to do another entire playthrough to get those.

Achievements in this Step

  • The Prison
  • The Lair
  • The Kitchen
  • The Guest Area
  • The Lady’s Quarters
  • Highly Sprung
  • Six’s Song
  • Kitchen Hand
  • Elusive
  • Light Up Your Life
  • Little Lost Things
  • Rascal

Step Two: Hard to the Core

The last achievement of the base game is the only reason you have to do a second playthrough. The achievement requires you to beat the game in less than an hour without dying, and this achievement is the primary reason that getting all of these achievements is as difficult as it is. This may take you multiple tries but just stick with it. You also should do this right after you finish your first playthrough and before you move on to the DLCs so that the solutions to the puzzles and where to go are all fresh in your mind. If you do a perfect run-through of the game, it should take you right around 55 minutes, so there is very little wiggle room for mistakes as you go through it. Here are some tips to know before you get going:

  • Pause screens don’t count towards the timer. This means that if you ever need to look up a guide or aren’t sure about an upcoming section, feel free to pause the game and look up a walkthrough to get your bearings.
  • Don’t try to go for any collectibles or extras. If you miss any of the other achievements before you get this one, it is far easier to use chapter selection rather than jeopardizing your entire run during this playthrough.
  • If you are having problems, there is an exploit you can use to make it a bit easier by exploiting cloud saves. To do this, disconnect your Xbox from the internet and start a new game. Play through the first chapter until you are just about to beat it. Reconnect to the internet and complete the chapter to save it in the cloud. Then, exit out to the dashboard and close the game. Disconnect from the internet again and follow the same steps for the next chapter. This way, if you ever die, you can restart the game and load the save from the cloud so that you can restart that chapter without your death counting to void the achievement.

Step Three: The Depths

The Depths

The first DLC pack for the game is The Depths. It can be started from the chapter selection screen and will only take you around an hour, even if you get caught up at some of its trickier parts for a bit. It only has three achievements to earn, but they each reward a sizable chunk of gamerscore, which is nice.

Achievements in this Step

  • Fun and Games Ahead
  • Not Alone
  • So Close

Step Four: The Hideaway

The second DLC for Little Nightmares that you’ll want to tackle is The Hideaway. This DLC is much more puzzle-focused than the base game or The Depths, so if you struggle with puzzles, you may want to keep a guide on hand to help you out. Its achievements also follow the same template started by The Depths, and it is another brief experience that rewards you plenty for your time.

Achievements in this Step

  • Ashes in the Maw
  • Is Anybody Out There?
  • End in Sight

Step Five: The Residence

Finally, you’ll want to take on the third DLC called The Residence. This DLC is widely regarded as the best of the three DLC packs, so ending with this one will not only reveal story elements that will help you understand the rest of the game better but will also make sure you end on the best note possible. It also continues the trend of the two previous DLCs by having three achievements, with one being tied to collectibles, one to complete it, and one for random missable interaction.

Highly Sprung

Gamerscore: 50

Description: This achievement is for jumping on a bed.

Tips: This can be completed at any time during your playthrough, as beds are featured through the chapters. However, if you just keep an eye out in chapter one, there are plenty of beds to jump on to get this one out of the way early on in your playthrough.

Six’s Song

Gamerscore: 150

Description: This achievement is for running across the keys of a piano.

Tips: You can get this achievement in chapter two after you climb up the bookshelf and have to get on top of a swinging piano.

Kitchen Hand

Kitchen Hand

Gamerscore: 150

Description: This achievement is for contributing to the cook’s cooking.

Tips: In chapter three, you can get this achievement when you go to the kitchen, and a giant monster is working on making something in a large cauldron. You can use any ingredients in the kitchen to add to it, but you have to add three different items. To the left of the area is a cellar, but there are also some ingredients scattered around the kitchen. All you have to do is pick them up, get as close to the cauldron as you can, and then hold the button to throw them far enough to get them to land inside. Once you put three ingredients in, the achievement will pop.

Elusive

Gamerscore: 50

Description: This achievement requires you to be seen by an enemy and escape a total of ten times.

Tips: You will likely get this achievement naturally during your playthrough, but it is also easy to grind out if you don’t. The best place to do this is at the start of chapter four. When you get chased by the guy who crawls on the floor to get to you, let him get close almost enough to grab you and then dart away until you see the auto-save eye appear in the bottom right corner. That means the game is auto-saving and that you evaded him successfully. Do that repeatedly during the length of the chase, and you should be able to get three or four evades in. Simply restart the chapter and do it again if you need more until the achievement pops.

Light Up Your Life

Light Up Your Life

Gamerscore: 50

Description: This achievement is for lighting a total of 20 lanterns or candles during your playthrough.

Tips: You will pass plenty of lanterns and candles without going out of your way during your first run through the game so just make sure to stop and light them as you find them until the achievement pops.

Little Lost Things

Gamerscore: 50

Description: This achievement is for finding and hugging all 13 of the Nome collectibles in the game.

Tips: The location of each Nome in the order you can find them is below.

Chapter Gnome Number Description
1 1 Open the refrigerator with handprints on it and follow the Nome through the hole to your right until it stops and you can hug it.
2 Once you get past the immense light that looks like an eye, get up to the top of the cages and go to the right. Drop down, and you’ll see an open cage to your right with the Nome inside.
3 Go to the left once you turn off the power and are in a room with the counterweight in it. There you can free the Nome from a cage and then follow it to the room on the right to hug it.
2 4 When you start the chapter, go up the stairs and open the door to your right. This will release a Nome that will run into a secret room again on your right. Pull the chair in the room to the black mark on the ground to gain access to the room. Run in to scare the Nome out of hiding and then follow it up the stairs back outside, where you can find it by the trash.
5 Once you go down the vent to land by the shoes, there is a small room with a lantern by a suitcase. Next to the lantern is a hidden ladder that you need to climb to reach a vent that leads to a small room with the Nome inside.
6 In the room with all of the books, go under the desk to scare a Nome out of hiding. Then, check the stacks of books on the left side of the room to reach it and calm it down with a hug.
3 7 Once you get the key by the two beds, go down the hall with the elevator until you get to the bathroom. The Nome is in the back left part of the room.
8 From that same bathroom, go down the elevator and follow the Nome you find to the left into the pantry. Smash the bottle on the ground, quickly hug the Nome, and then hide just in case the chef heard you.
9 The last Nome of the chapter is under the table with the massive meat-grinder.
4 10 At the start, go to the hole in the wall to your left before you cross the large pipe. The Nome is inside of the small room it leads to.
11 Once you escape the hungry people trying to eat you for the first time, go all the way to the right in the room with the bar lined with people. This will scare a Nome into a hole to the right that you can reach by sliding a stool out of the way.
12 Once you escape the chef in the bathroom, take the elevator and find a small hole in the wall to your right. The Nome is in that room next to the sleeping man.
13 This Nome is story-related and unmissable.

Rascal

Gamerscore: 50

Description: This achievement is for destroying the ten Geisha statues spread throughout the game.

Tips: The Geisha statues are spread out through all five game chapters. Their locations are below.

Chapter Statue Number Description
1 1 The Geisha is in a small alcove just after the gap you cross with the staircase.
2 With the big light that looks like an eye, get up to the upper walkway in the room. Follow it to the left and go through the open door to find the room with the statue.
2 3 Early in the chapter, use the suitcase you find on the ground to pull the nearby lever in that same room. This will drop down a bed you can get onto to jump to the top of the drawers. Go left and jump on the shelf with the toilet paper to find the statue.
4 Once you go into the crawlspace to escape, the man with long arms goes to the right and then runs towards the screen. The statue is in the back-left corner.
3 5 When you reach the blood trail that takes you to the double doors, first turn around and inspect under the ramp nearby. There’s a small vent there that you can drop into to find a small room with the statue.
6 In the room with the meat grinder, use the small elevator to get to the freezer room. In the back right corner, there is a vent you need to go through to reach the statue.
7 This statue is in the room you enter by falling down the trash chute.
4 8 Once you’re in the bathroom, climb up onto the pipes to get out. Follow the pipes as far right as you can and drop down to the table.
9 You’ll eventually climb up a ladder and witness a Geisha going through a door. Go left, and you’ll finally see the statue.
5 10 After you scare off the Geisha in her bedroom, go into the room she came from and find the statue on the table adjacent to the broken mirror.

The Depths Achievements

Fun and Games Ahead

Tips: To make the bucket, play through the level until you distract the granny with fish heads and climb up after swimming away. You’ll see a big white bucket that sounds like it has rats inside of it in that area. You can find a ball on the right side of the room that you have to pick up and throw into the big bucket. You can take as many tries as you want, so keep trying until you get it in, and the achievement should pop.

Tips: The locations of the bottles are:

  • After you use the seesaw to get into a cabinet, the next room you’ll enter has a crate and a sink in it. Drag the crate over to the sink and use it to climb in. The bottle is in the sink, so make sure you grab it before going down the drain.
  • In the area where you can use a lever to fill or drain a basin with water, fill it to the top. Then, set it to drain 75% of the water out and quickly jump in and swim to the right. As it’s lowering, there is a hole you can swim through to reach the next bottle in the background.
  • In the area where you climb the two small silos before the water widens, there is a platform in the back that can be accessed via floating to it on junk to find this bottle.
  • When you climb up the wall after crossing the massive body of water, get halfway up and turn around to jump on a ledge behind you. Then, if you run, you can jump to the left to find another bottle.
  • The last bottle is found in the room with the large staircase after you cross the body of water on a TV. Before you go up the stairs, head to the right side of the room and look behind the planks.

Once that is out of the way, and you reach the top floor, go to the left. Then, go back to the library and pick up the gray book sitting in the corner. Go back to the main floor and head to your left to put it in a bookcase. This will open a secret door, revealing an urn sitting on a table. • After you solve the puzzle with the paintings on the top floor, go to the next room and go all the way to your right to find a secret room with the bottle in it.
  • In the room that you use the key to open, go straight across the screen to reach the bottle.
  • In the room, after you turn a crank to unlock the next area, go on the piano and walk back and forth on its keys to open a painting on the wall to reveal a bottle.
  • Once you deliver all the statue pieces, go all the way to the right to find the last bottle. You’ll have to go pretty far, so don’t worry if it takes a bit.

Conclusion

Little Nightmares is a great game for fans of titles such as Limbo or Inside. Its horror themes may dissuade some achievement hunters from trying their hand at it, but there is also a lot to love about the game for those brave enough to tackle it. Getting all the achievements is also relatively easy, except for the Hard to the Core achievement. Still, hopefully, with the above tips, you’ll be able to get through that playthrough without too much trouble or failed attempts.
