Cult of the Lamb Trophy Guide – Guide Your Flock to Greatness!

If you are one of those gamers much like myself that have their indie radars tuned in to a certain frequency where you never miss a new exciting gem on the horizon, you might have heard of Cult of the Lamb. Indie games are a dime a dozen, with at least one publishing daily trying to be the next Stardew Valley or Hades. However, It’s very rare that you ever get something that even comes close to that level of quality. Then along comes a title that allows you to take control of your own cult, lead your flock as a lamb that has evaded slaughter, and hunt down those that sacrificed you in the name of the Old Faith.

It’s dark yet jovial in equal measure, and despite the rather taboo subject matter, the game manages to offer Binding of Issac meets Hades, meets Stardew-Valley-like gameplay, with a core gameplay loop that is super addictive. If you want my full take, be sure to read my review on Indie Game Culture, but rest assured, I was really impressed with this title.

However, with most games that I get handed for review, especially indies, there comes a time when I take off my journalist’s hat and become a seasoned platinum hunter looking for my next platinum pop and the sweet, sweet crumb of serotonin that comes with it. Which meant I needed to assess the trophy list for this delightfully dark game, and to my delight, it looked pretty manageable.

After over ten hours of grinding and building my army of minions, I can now say, it wasn’t quite as straightforward as I thought. There are some hidden secrets you’ll need to know, some tactics you’ll need to employ, and some bugs that you’ll need to work around to make this happen.

Worry not, my little lambs, for I have suffered, so you don’t have to. I know the strategies, I hold the key to all the knowledge needed, and I have some extra hints and tips to make your cult-based adventure a lot more manageable and fun. So without further delay, let’s get into this bad boy. Here is our Cult of the Lamb Trophy Guide; enjoy!

Quick Details

  • Genre: Roguelike/Resource Management
  • Number of Trophies: 37
  • Difficulty: 4/10
  • Playthroughs Needed: One
  • Time to Platinum: 6-10 hours

Roadmap to Success

Step one: Kill The Non-Believers!

Kill The Non-Believers!

Okay, so let’s get down to business, the business of brainwashing. The first step of this roadmap is as straightforward as it gets. Just play the game naturally and do everything that the game wants you to do. That will be a mix of cult management tasks and quests, as well as slaying the four Bishops of the old faith, and The One Who Waits. Who would have thought rescuing that guy would come back to bite us? Sadly, you can’t neglect your flock and rush to the finish line, as you will need a strong number of followers throughout the game to unlock new areas. However, with a sacrifice there and a sermon there, you’ll be just fine. Here are the trophies that you will pick up through natural play:

  • A Deal With The Devil
  • First Follower
  • Preacher of Truth
  • The First Death
  • Death to the Non-Believers
  • The Flock Grows
  • Flock of Many
  • Flock of All
  • See No Evil
  • Speak No Evil
  • Hear No Evil
  • Think No Evil
  • Do No Evil
  • Crosser of Thresholds
  • Leader of the Crusade

Step Two: Fine Tune Your Cult

Fine Tune Your Cult

After you finish the game, and if you made the same choice as me, have The One Who Waits working on the Compound; you can begin the first stages of clean-up. This will involve you giving your Compound and flock all the bells and whistles. To complete these steps, you practically don’t need to venture out into the wild again at all. You just need to keep your flock happy, keep things ticking over, and keep building new things on your Compound to enhance productivity. This step is all about resource management, so put away the sword, axe, claw, or hammer, just for now. Here are the trophies you will earn in this portion of the journey:

  • Keeper of Secrets
  • Sacrificial Beasts
  • Weigher of Souls
  • Hoarder of Wealth
  • Weapons of Plenty
  • Curses of Plenty
  • Devotion
  • Cannibal
  • Gospel

Step Three: Cleanup Time

Brilliant job so far. Now comes the time when you can start to let your flock dwindle and focus on matters beyond your Compound. You don’t have to neglect your followers, but tending to all their petty wants and desires, like food and sanitary living conditions, can really slow you down. In this step, you will be heading to the five unlockable areas of the game and doing some side quests, unlocking come fun collectibles, playing some cool mini-games, and you’ll probably have to get your weapon back out again to collect some necessary extras like hidden Tarot Cards, for example. Here are the trophies you’ll want to pick up in this step:

  • Bringer of Light
  • Full Flock
  • Full Deck
  • Teach a Lamb to Fish
  • Transform
  • Transmute
  • Game of Chance
  • Master of Chance

Step Four: Can’t Touch This!

Can't Touch This!

Then comes the final step and what is easily the hardest part of this platinum run. Do you remember those pesky bishops that wanted to kill you before? Well, here’s the thing. Unless you managed to beat every single one of those without taking any damage the first time around, you’ll need to take them on again. No need for another playthrough, though. When you encounter one of their shrines in their respective areas, if you destroy it, it will open a portal and transport you there. Then with a little help from some of the snazzy new fleeces you acquired earlier, you’ll make short work of these behemoth bishops. Here are the trophies you’ll be earning this time, along with the coveted platinum trophy:

  • Order
  • Sate
  • Cure
  • Peace
  • Godhood

Cult of the Lamb Trophy List

Great, so we have an established path to success, but a lot of these trophies are a little more complicated than they might seem. You’ll need some added guidance here if you want to get this one wrapped up in ten hours or less, which is more than doable. Plus, with a few bugs stopping a lot of players from earning this platinum, you’ll need to read further to make sure you avoid these pitfalls. Some will be acquired through rescuing followers on crusades; some can be bought from Helob, are sold by Forneus, or awarded as mini-boss rewards. Whereas more rare skins are earned by completing questlines and completing miscellaneous tasks.

Also, note that any players playing the V1.01 version of this game will not be able to complete this trophy’s criteria as the snails needed to complete the snail-related task will not spawn in Anura or Darkwood. The most recent patch has resolved this.

Special Follower Skins

Time to Deprogramme

There we have it, another platinum in the bag and a whole gang of minions that will do whatever you command to show for it. You can stick around and make your compound extra pretty, but if you’re anything like me, you’ll have had your fill and will be more than ready to de-program and deal with your cult leader experiences in therapy for the next few decades. We hope that this guide gave you everything you needed to build the perfect cult and the tools to pop your next platinum. This one can be a little bit of a pain, but with this guide, we hope you can make short work of it. As always, thanks for reading Avid Achievers!

FAQ Section

Question: Are Cult of the Lamb’s Trophies Bugged?

Answer: They were, and that really sucked as I spent way too long going on crusades through Anura for Snails that would never appear. However, thanks to the recent V1.04 patch, everything seems to be in working order again. Just make sure you are playing the most recent version before you tackle this one!

Question: Is There a Cult of the Lamb Plushie?

Answer: I’m glad you asked; why yes, there is. It’s as cute as you would imagine, and it is available to purchase on the Devlolver Digital Official store. Sadly they are sold out at the time of writing, but keep an eye on their page for further updates; I know I will be!

Question: Is Cult of the Lamb a Horror Game?

Answer: The simple answer is no. It’s no more of a horror game than The Binding of Issac. Sure it has some dark themes and a taboo premise. However, it’s carried out with such light-hearted whimsy and silliness that you can’t really take those aspects seriously. So if you were on the fence out of fear, then I can assure you, that you have nothing to worry about.
