Throughout the game, players establish settlements, raid the enemies’ villages, and foster relationships. The game also has a complete gear system that allows players to customize their fighting style and build their very own playstyle for how they want to approach the game’s content. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Achievement Walkthrough

Before we get into each achievement that you’ll unlock during your playthrough, we need to look at how you should play through the game. Thankfully, there are no missable achievements in Valhalla, but there is an order that you should stick to to make it as enjoyable of an experience as possible. You should be aware of some aspects of the game from the start to ensure that you can cut down on the grinding later on in the game as much as possible.

Step One: The Story

Assassins Creed Valhalla Achievements Guide

When you first start your game, just know that you can select either gender for your character and any difficulty for your playthrough. Neither decision will impact achievements, so pick whatever will make the experience the most fun for you. An easier difficulty will shorten up the time required to make it through the game, but normal or higher difficulties can make combat a bit more interesting through the challenge.

Once you’re in the game, the first thing you’ll want to do is play through the game naturally. Getting your character to a higher level with good gear will help make tackling the collectibles and necessary side content a lot faster, so you shouldn’t worry too much about it as you play. If you want, though, you can do as much as you want. Like all modern games in this series, its map is filled with dots denoting available content and collectibles. You’ll have to get all of these for the achievements, so a good idea may be to grab as many as possible as you travel around the maps during the story to cut down on how many you have to get later on. There also are a few other general tips for your playthrough:

  • There have been reported bugs of clearing icons on the map not counting, so make sure to keep an eye on the corner of the screen to see if it gets checked off after you get one. Reload the most recent autosave if it doesn’t appear and try again.
  • When you do raids, make sure you loot every chest you can find. This won’t give you enough supplies to fully upgrade your settlement, but it will help cut down on the grinding for supplies later in your playthrough.
  • Feel free to spend your skill points on whatever you want. You can respec your skills at any time during your playthrough for free, and you will eventually unlock every single skill anyways.
  • As you catch or kill fish throughout the game, make sure you keep 20 small bullheads and five small brown trouts as you’ll need those to offer them at altars.
  • Please make sure you get the Overdesign II achievement before you reach power level 300 so that you don’t have to remove skill points to get it.

Step Two: The Collectibles and Orlogs

Once you’ve completed the story, you can start going around the map and cleaning up all of the collectibles that you still need to get your hands on. To make this easier, make sure that you do as many of the viewpoints as you can while you play so that you can fast travel to the different maps rather than having to travel through the map. You should also know that you don’t need to worry about giving money to the random NPCs you find with question marks above their heads. These NPCs will show you a collectible location if you pay them. Still, every collectible can be revealed by either passing close enough to it or using the viewpoints, so paying them is essentially a waste of money. As you travel around to clear off your map, you should also tackle the Orlog challenges as you pass near them.

Step Three: Killing the Ancients and Cleanup

Once you have the pesky collectibles out of the way, you can start assassinating all of the Order of the Ancients members. There are 45 you need to kill in total, but you’ll eliminate 13 of them as part of the story. After you have all of those killed, you can take care of the miscellaneous achievements you still have left. You may have gotten a good number of them out of the way by playing naturally, but doing the rest can take a handful of hours if you don’t have many done.

Step Four: DLC

Once you’re done with the base game content, you should start taking on the DLCs. The order you complete them in doesn’t matter much, but I recommend doing the Mastery Challenge DLCs last so that you are as familiar with the game’s combat as possible to make them easier to complete. The Tombs of the Fallen DLC will see you completing short dungeons, while The Siege of Paris and Wrath of the Druids give you small new areas to explore that function very similarly to the base game.
